One of your strategies for advancement this year is relationship. You will not be able to achieve all that God has planned for you to accomplish this year alone! As a believer, you must understand that relationship is vital in this kingdom. You cannot function in isolation; you must identify your tribe, community, and company and connect with them. God has made the body of Christ to work as a system, just as a human body works together as a system. The body of Christ functions as a community. No wonder the scripture says that he sets the solitary in families (Psalm 68:6). In other words, He sets the lonely/solitary in relationships.
You need men! You need relationships! Imagine Moses without Aaron and Hur. As great as Moses was, he could not lift his weak hands alone; he needed an Aaron and a Hur to help him raise them. As mighty as Apollos was in scripture, he needed Priscilla and Aquila to understand God’s ways better. Apollos became even more effective in his ministry due to that mentorship from Priscilla and Aquila.
Recognizing your Aaron and Hur:
Every man has an Aaron and Hur. Aaron and Hur are people or relationships that amplify your strength. They are people God has given to you to help you fulfill your destiny. These are people you interact and relate with that add to your life and do not drain your strength; People whose presence in your life brings out the best in you and not the worst of you. People who are intentional about you and they make an effort to communicate that to you in their words and actions.
Your Aaron and Hur are men and women of kindred spirits. I call them “my tribe.” We speak the same language despite not coming from the same earthly place. We connect with these people deeply and genuinely, not because of what we stand to gain but because our destines are intricately linked. Your Aaron and Hur are not just limited to one-to-one relationships. Your Aaron and Hur could be that certain Man of God whose messages edify you and brings out the best in you. This year, discover your Aaron and Hur, connect with them genuinely, and leverage them for greater advancement and progress.
So how can a relationship advance you?

Through the power of influence:
Prov 27:17 (NCV) states that As iron sharpens iron, people can improve each other. The people in your life and around you can make you do things unconsciously. Influence is both direct and indirect. Influence is very subtle, so it is crucial to watch the people around you. Over time, you begin to act, think, behave, and speak like the people around you. Let me give you an example. Have you observed that the more you pray with someone regularly, you will start picking up their prayer language? It’s not intentional. It just happens; that’s influence! How do Children learn? Through the power of influence. They watch their parents and environments and begin doing what they see. You will start to think positively by being around people who think positively.

Through the power of Spiritual atmosphere:
You can enter into some things based on association; Association is powerful. Every man or woman carries a spiritual atmosphere that can engineer certain possibilities. This atmosphere can be positive or negative and will produce according to its kind. Saul became another man because he joined himself to a band of prophets. This spiritual atmosphere around men that creates possibilities is called grace. Some people carry the grace for ease; another has the grace for favor; others carry the grace for speed, etc. Prov 13:20 states to walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble. According to Gen 30:27, Laban became wealthy because of Jacob. The house of Potiphar prospered because of Joseph. Something in their lives was causing the things around them to prosper. There are specific results you will begin to get just by connecting to certain people.
Wisdom for Managing Your Relationships:
Therefore be intentional about your relationships. You cannot be close to everyone, and everyone cannot be your friend. Also, don’t be parasitic to people in your circle. Communicate honor, give value, and nurture your relationship with prayer (oh yes! The devil will fight your relationships). Develop emotional intelligence, and be aware of your strength and weakness and how it affects the people in your life. Be considerate and anticipate the needs of people in your life.
