Divine forgetfulness is your ability to break free from your past by disregarding it. You will easily make progress in life when you learn to let go of the past as fast as possible. Apostle Paul states in Phil 3:13, “I forget what is behind me, I reach forward, or I press forward to what lies ahead.” To press forward in life and destiny, you must learn to forget what is behind you quickly. You must learn to move on quickly!
No matter how long or short you have lived on earth, you will agree that there are situations and events that you remember, and it seems like you are picking on a fresh wound. You remember those situations, and all you remember is shame and regret. You wish you could go back in time and either wipe out the event from your history or rewrite the story.
Some of these situations were self-inflicted, and some were inflicted by others. For every shame, mistake, embarrassing situation, the not-so-good events of your past, abuse from someone you trusted, or disappointment from a loved one, there is freedom for you.
God says to you, “I know what happened to you; I saw that embarrassing situation; I saw how they let you down. But hey! I am doing something NEW! Take your eyes off the past.”
Until you take your eyes off the past, you cannot see the new things God is doing. The new thing God is doing can be right before you, but you may not recognize it or see it because you are stuck in the past. Until you stop dwelling on what happened long ago, you cannot move into the new chapters of your life. I acknowledge the pain you went through. I do not intend to deny or minimize the pain and the implications of your past hurt. But it will do you no good to hold on to them. God is giving you greater things, but you cannot receive them because your hands are closely tied around the mistakes of your past. You are alive because God has given you time to begin painting beautiful and colorful memories again. Don’t become a prisoner of your past. Don’t fall in love with your past; let it go.
You are not making progress in life because you have chosen to camp in your past. You have analyzed and reanalyzed that situation, trying to justify the perpetrators’ actions. It has reached the extent that you are beginning to question the purpose and worthiness of your existence.
Listen, friend, what God is doing is so great that what happened to you in the past will look negligible and infinitesimal. You have cried in the secret, but God is about to bless you in the open. You labored secretly, and instead of being appreciated, you were humiliated. God says to you, I am about to announce and honor you publicly. The joy set before you is far greater than the pain of the past. God is using those embarrassing situations as raw material to create a glorious NOW MOMENT!
Forgive yourself and forget the past.
Forgive them and forget the past.
Get so lost in the NOW MOMENTS that you don’t have time to visit the old history.
So, my friend, don’t let the past deny you of the great things happening right NOW in your life. Don’t let your past place a limitation on your progress in life. What has happened has happened; now is the time to move on. What God is doing is happening already! It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? You can see it Now! (Isaiah 43:18-19 GNT)
You are worthy of being loved and accepted no matter your past. You are worthy of God’s love! Relax, friend, and enjoy God’s love!
Your friend,
Love N.
